Fifth Anniversary of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche's Parinirvana

Five years ago today, according to the Tibetan lunar calendar Sixth Month Full Moon Day July 27th 2018, Lama Tharchin Rinpoche took parinirvana, reminding us of the inescapable truth of impermanence. Lama Tharchin Rinpoche stressed the importance of using the circumstance of our lama's passing to develop our dharma practice. His essential advice was to do guru yoga and meditate upon t'huk yi say. In a teaching on Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche's Nying Nor (A Heart Jewel for the Fortunate), Lama Tharchin Rinpoche said: "According to Kyabje Dudjom Rinpoche’s teachings, in guru yoga practice we merge our ordinary dualistic mind with the guru’s wisdom mind and settle in evenness. This merging is called “t’huk yi say.” We are able do this merging in guru yoga because on the level of the absolute nature, these two are in fact not separate. The guru’s wisdom mind is the same as our indwelling nature. In relation to the way things appear, they seem to be separate; but in relation to their abiding nature, they are the same. In guru yoga, we take all dualistic appearances and merge them with the nondual wisdom of our abiding nature, the nature of the wisdom mind of Guru Rinpoche."

This Full Moon day, we are exceptionally blessed to have Kyabje Dudjom Yangsi Sangye Pema Shepa Rinpoche join with Tulku Thadral Rinpoche, Tulku Jigme Wangdrak Rinpoche, Khenpo Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche, Tulku Jamyang Rinpoche, Lama Sonam Rinpoche, and many of our close lamas to lead us in Vajrasattva Dorsem Lama Chopa practice at Pema Osel Ling. We hope to connect with all of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche's heart sangha today with prayer and meditation recalling our lama's enlightened wisdom qualities. Visit the Vajrayana Foundation website for details for practicing together or at home.

We're extremely honored and very happy to share a special prayer of supplication to Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, Prayer that Heralds Faith, written by Rinpoche's nephew, the great Nyingma master Loppon Jigme Thutop Namgyal Rinpoche. Written shortly after Rinpoche's passing, in response to the requests of Pema Osel Ling's three-year retreatants, Loppon Rinpoche's soldeb prayer is infused with realization and blessings that provide us with a means to continue connecting with Lama Tharchin Rinpoche's boundless wisdom and compassion. We would like to express our deep gratitude for Loppon Jigme Rinpoche's vast loving-kindness and guidance. Thank you, Freddie, for making this prayer request on all of our behalf.
